Updated: May 15

EDMONTON, February 19, 2021 – Health Gauge is pleased to be one of 50 Alberta-based companies that is participating in the Technology Alberta FIRST Jobs Program – a program that supports youth employment in Alberta’s growing technology sector. In 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, Alberta tech companies have created thousands of new job openings, highlighting a growing momentum

of tech companies that the FIRST Jobs Program is helping to build on.

Through the FIRST Jobs Program, Technology Alberta has paired over 50 Alberta students and new graduates with 50 innovative small-to-medium sized Alberta tech companies. During the program, youths (under the age of 30) participate in an 8 to 10 week paid, part-time work experience initiative that can help to launch their careers.

“Alberta has some of the best post-secondary institutions for technology in the world – and it is great to be able to tap into the local talent through the FIRST Jobs Program,” said Health Gauge CEO, Randy Duguay. “The skillset of these students and graduates is first-rate. There is something rewarding about helping young professionals find their footing as they complete their degrees and give them early experi

ence in their field of professional focus.”

About the FIRST Jobs Program

The FIRST Jobs Program is supported by the governments of Canada and Alberta through Western Economic Diversification’s Regional Relief and Recovery Fund (RRRF). Youths selected for the program include current post-secondary students as well as recent graduates who live in Alberta and who are interested in establishing a career in Alberta’s technology sector. In addition to work experience, program participants gain insight into Alberta’s tech community by attending information sessions by Technology Alberta and panel sessions by the FIRST Jobs companies.
