Enhanced hydration solves problem of “fishy burps”
Many of us understand that if a product contains omega-3 then it offers some kind of health benefit. But given how vast the range of benefits are it has always been a real challenge for food and supplement companies to market successfully with daily consumption of omega-3 in the UK at roughly 170mg, well under the 250-500mg as recommended by some health organisations.
OmegaWater is a new brand of enhanced water that looks to follow the trail blazed by vitaminwater, helping to boost the UK’s omega-3 consumption by making it more easy and enjoyable. Founder Marcus Mollinga came across the idea whilst consuming high levels of concentrated omega-3 to help aid the recovery of a sporting injury. He found consuming omega-3 via oils and capsules to be an unpleasant experience, “fishy burps” in particular, but couldn’t find an enhanced omega-3 water on the shelves. 12 months later and the finished product was developed.
With just 18 calories per bottle, the drinks are available in a range of flavours including Mixed Berry, Pineapple Coconut and Pink Grapefruit, the drinks are unique in offering A, D and E as a trio whilst also offering 80mg of omega-3.
The brand has also launched Omega Squeeze, an enhanced emulsion for brain and heart health, offering either 750-3,000mg. It is made using ultra-high potency fish oil sourced from sardines and mackerel – or flax seed in the vegan version – which is then emulsified to create a creamy texture with no fishy taste or smell.
