Albert McQuaid explains Kerry’s new ingredient portfolio
Having recently joined the European Sports Nutrition Trade Association along side Fronterra, Kerry sees great opportunity in performance nutrition and at Health Ingredients Europe Albert McQuaid, CTO of Kerry’s Functional Ingredients and Actives Division introduced the company’s new taste and performance ingredients portfolio.
Historically the company focused on dairy proteins before expanding into plant based ingredients and flavour. Now Kerry aims to approach targeted nutrition, ranging from high performance sports nutrition, to lifestyle, infant and elderly nutrition. One key consideration of this portfolio is how to maintain the food matrix when functional ingredients are added to provide a better taste for the consumers. The company sees the broadening in the mainstream as a huge opportunity for producers to take a step forward in producing products that not only deliver for different need states but that also taste as good as all other food products.
