Is sexercise a myth?

The term ‘sexercise’ has been around for a while. But is there any truth in the theory?

Sexercise with Ken and BarbieAccording to a research expert the secrets of using one of life’s greatest pleasures to slim down, shape up, and achieve a healthier, more passionate life, can only be a positive addition to your fitness regimen. McCloskey lost 23 pounds on the ‘ultimate sex diet’, and now teaches her theory to other wannabe ‘sexercisers’.

In McCloskey’s book, ‘The Ultimate Sex Diet’ 30 minutes of ‘romantic relations’ will burn about 150-250 calories. This can increase to 350 kcals, depending on how active you are. Even kissing for an hour burns over 200 kcals. That may take some commitment, but the incentive to burn off that latte may well spur you on. To give a rough idea, cleaning for 48 minutes could burn off about 200 kcals. So it’s the hoover vs a smooch for roughly the same amount of time, to burn off the same amount of kcals.

According to the NHS Direct website, sexercise can even lower the risk of heart attacks and help people live longer. A recent study also found that women will make that special effort to have sex after a hard days work if they think it will help them lose weight. Good news, it can.
