SportsArt generate energy at Radisson Red
If you have ever walked onto a gym floor and pondered – “what if the energy output from all these people working out could be harnessed to power something” – then you are not alone. You see someone running on a treadmill and you imagine a hamster on a wheel powering a light bulb. Sadly, this type of cardio equipment is often powered itself meaning there is no opportunity to harness this energy. That is untill now.
Gym equipment manufacturer SportArt is enabling the guests of the Radisson Red in Brussels to generate green energy. Using the Eco-Power equipment, the kinetic energy created while exercising can be fed back into the hotel’s electrical grid, which generates power for the hotel and can lower energy bills overall.
In addition to that, guests are able to track their workout progress with the Senza+ app on their phone, which shows them exactly how much they’ve generated that day, and share that information on social media. Sustainability and a healthy lifestyle is a movement that many gym-goers, especially Millennials, are excited to embrace.
