Natural bars go straight to the point
Good Full Stop is a UK brand of products riding the new wave of natural & organic products with a very bold brand identity. The main selling of these fruit & nut bars are the clarity of the offering. This is true of their ingredients being all natural with no artificial additives.
The main ingredients common to most bars in the range are:
- Rice Bran
- Freeze Dried Fruit
- 8-20% Chocolate
Due to the date content they do tend to fall into a common trap of natural & organic bars of tasting primarily of figs. But in all fairness you could easily say that the majority of best selling confectionary bars just taste like chocolate, which incidentally none of these bars seem to.
In terms of taste and texture Good Full Stop bars are moist and not dry or chalky as some natural & organic bars can be. “Cherry & Maple Syrup” has a good sweetness, “Chocolate Orange” has a pronounced orange flavour but not so much with the chocolate and “Chocolate & Mint” also has had a good minty tingle but again you couldn’t really taste any chocolate.
Each bar provides one of the UK recommendation of five fruits or vegetables per day. They also provide a natural source of copper and fibre. For anyone with gluten intolerance they are also naturally gluten free.
Calorifically the offering is well balanced. The calorie content of the bars range around 350-400 calories per 100g which is similar to, or around 1/3 more than, 100g of raisins. Around 45% of this is natural sugars and an average 8% natural protein. This is understandable given the nature of the bar as it is trying to pack as much natural nutrients into it 35g offering a possible. This means the final 35g bar actually provides roughly 122-140 calories. That’s roughly the same calories of around two and a half apples, which if consumed as an energy boosting snack as part of an active lifestyle should be perfectly manageable given the other nutritional benefits of the product.
In summary then, Good Full Stop bars have a bold identity and generally some good flavours if a little samey, but for a convenient occasional energy boosting snack they are a compelling proposition.
